Performance at The Cell, In the dark room of the cell, after coating myself in white paint, I projected onto myself the experimental film by Müller, Home Stories (1991), a montage of Hollywood melodramas’ female gestures from the 60’s and 70’s. As the audience can freely walk in and out in this claustrophobic atmosphere, a video camera linked to a television showed different angles of the performance and allowed the audience to get a better overview of the live performance wherever they were placed in the space. My body became distorted and the images of the women became dismantled. The female community is dismembered and the new generation of females, represented by the body of the performer, is looking back and updating these old-fashion images. The perfect body lines of movie stars, perfect shapes modelled by the view of the camera, make up and cinema lighting are applied to my actual body.
